The History of Essential Oils

The use of Essential Oils for medicinal and spiritual purposes dates back to ancient times. The Ancient Egyptians used Essential Oils for healing, cleansing rituals and beauty treatments and in ancient Greece and Rome they were commonly used in baths and massages to relieve pain, stress and tension. 

In the Middle Ages, Essential Oils were used primarily for their medicinal properties and powerful aroma. They were often added to tonics and potions to treat various ailments and skin conditions, other times they were used to simply mask unpleasant smells...

In the early 19th century Essential Oils gained popularity in Massage Therapy. A French doctor, Hippolyte Simonis, is credited with introducing these concentrated plant extracts into the practice of massage, believing that Essential Oils were beneficial for a variety of conditions, including nervous disorders and digestive problems.

Today, Essential Oils are commonly used in massage therapy to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and improve circulation.

The Benefits of Essential Oils
